The Department of Materials Science and Engineering has received a set of scientific books on various titles donated by the Marie Curie Library of the International Centre for theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Italy. The books were presented at the School of Engineering Sciences by Madam Ylenia Citino, a representative of the Deputy Head of Mission of the Italian Embassy in Accra.
Students at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering lab at the University of Ghana engage in hands-on projects that combine theory with real-world applications. These projects, ranging from testing material properties to developing sustainable materials, help students gain practical skills and experience using advanced equipment. Working in teams under faculty mentorship, students tackle real-world challenges in fields like construction, energy storage, and environmental sustainability. These projects prepare them for careers in research and industry by fostering innovation, critical thinking, and technical expertise.
