Overview

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Ghana offers a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Materials Science and Engineering. This program is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in the fundamental principles of materials science while equipping them with practical skills for diverse industrial applications.

Aims and Objectives

  1. To provide students with a broad-based education in the fundamental principles of materials science and engineering.
  2. To equip students with practical problem-solving skills for real-world materials engineering challenges.
  3. To develop students' ability to analyze, design, and select materials for various applications.
  4. To prepare graduates for careers in industry, research, and academia.
  5. To promote innovation and entrepreneurship in materials science applications.


Tuition Method

Lectures, group assignments, case studies/reviews, class presentations, project work, field visits and seminars.


Entry Requirements

Core: Credit passes in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science & Social Studies
Electives: Credit passes in Physics, Chemistry, and Elective Mathematics, with at least a B3 in Elective Mathematics
