Undergraduate Admissions

University of Ghana (UG) students come from across Ghana, Africa and throughout the world, representing diverse perspectives, experiences, backgrounds and cultures. Through the Students Financial Aid Office (SFAO), the university makes every effort to provide financial aid to qualified Ghanaian undergraduate applicants with limited finances.

UG through the International Programmes Office encourages participation of international students through direct enrollment and exchange programmes. At present, international students number close to 1,500 students, drawn from over 71 countries.

Approximately 1,200 students enrol in our diverse undergraduate course offerings in Mathematical Sciences. At the end of Level 100, students usually opt for a Single Major, Double Major or Major–Minor in Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science, and Computer Science. Future mathematics majors generally (but not always) begin Level 200 with courses:

  • MATH223 (Calculus II)
  • MATH225 (Vectors and Mechanics)


Career Prospects

Upon graduating, our students pursue a diverse array of paths. Some choose to attend graduate school in fields such as mathematics, physics, computer science, finance, or engineering. Others embark on careers spanning various domains, including investment banking, consulting, software engineering, start-ups, the actuarial profession, Teaching and more.


Entry Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences
Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Biomathematics

Core: Credit passes in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science & Social Studies
Electives: Credit passes in Elective Mathematics and any two subjects with at least a B3 in Elective Mathematics and Core Mathematics.
