About

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Ghana is a dynamic hub for research and education in pure and applied mathematics. Our team of experts in pure mathematics explore the newest and most exciting research topics in number theory, algebra, geometry, analysis, PDEs, and combinatorics. As for applied mathematics, we actively seek significant connections with other fields that could inspire new and valuable mathematical discoveries. Through innovative mathematical reasoning, we strive to achieve fresh insights and applications. Our applied math specialists concentrate on computational science, numerical analysis, financial mathematics, and theoretical physics.

Faculty

The Department currently comprises approximately 18 faculty members, including both local and international members, who are actively engaged in teaching and research activities. Additionally, two former faculty members continue to contribute to the Department's endeavours. Thanks to their cutting-edge research, the department has started to receive research grants aimed at enhancing infrastructure and supporting research efforts. Additionally, many faculty members engage in collaborative work in their respective areas of study with other centres of excellence worldwide.

Students
