Welcome Message from the Dean
It is a great pleasure to welcome all our students, faculty, staff, partners, and stakeholders to the 2024/2025 academic year.
The University of Ghana Dental School is home to an outstanding group of faculty, staff, and students whose passion and dedication have resulted in a rich enabling environment for nurturing tomorrow’s oral health practitioners and where the pursuit of knowledge is intertwined with a commitment to excellence, integrity, and community service. The school is resolute in creating an enabling environment that makes the University of Ghana increasingly relevant to the national and global development agenda, with faculty that are not only dedicated educators and mentors but also active researchers, scholars, and professionals whose mission is to disseminate cutting-edge knowledge and real-world experience into the classroom and clinic.
The new (2024/2025) academic year holds a lot of promise. My hope and challenge for you is that you will take proactive steps to work hard at achieving your personal goals, create a rich environment for ensuring a transformative student experience for our students, carry out impactful research, have a steadfast commitment to creating very engaging partnerships with the noble purpose of making a lasting difference in the lives of others in the year ahead.
The school also has a world-class dental clinic that provides excellent oral healthcare services to the Ghanaian populace in all the fields of dentistry. It thus strives to integrate teaching, research, and clinical care at the individual patient and community level, ensuring our students have an all-rounded experience.
To our students, I welcome and congratulate you on your decision to be a part of our institution. I know you have worked hard to get here, and I assure you that you will find our institution an enabling environment to obtain the best education possible in dentistry. This is just the start of an amazing journey that will shape you into great healthcare providers, researchers and policymakers.
I also extend a warm welcome to all future students, alumni and patients. I invite you to learn more about the University of Ghana Dental School through the resources on this website. Please, also find time to visit us physically in our serene and beautiful environment in Korle Bu.
Our arms are also widely open to collaborate with stakeholders who would want to share our vision. Tomorrow’s dentists will require abilities and skill sets that will enable them to participate with other healthcare providers to address the complete healthcare needs of patients and communities. You are all welcome to help us achieve this aim and I will encourage you to connect with us, ask questions, and discover how you can be a part of our dynamic and supportive community.
Warm regards
