Dr Abdullah Abubakar
About
Dr Abdullah Abubakar is a dedicated Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, with over a decade of experience in mathematics education. He is deeply committed to inspiring the next generation of mathematicians while advancing the frontiers of pure mathematics through his teaching and research.
His primary research interests lie in group theory, fusion systems, and the representation theory of finite groups. In particular, he investigates the intricate connections between fusion systems and the structural properties of finite groups, offering valuable insights that deepen our understanding of finite simple groups and their classifications.
Education
Ph.D. in Mathematics, University of Ghana.
M.Sc. in Mathematics, University of Western Ontario.
M.Phil. in Mathematics, University of Ghana.
B.Sc. in Mathematics & Computer Science, University of Ghana.
Research Interest
My research interest lies in the theory of fusion systems, local group theory, and the representation theory of finite groups. In particular, I am interested in the interplay between local group theory and the theory of fusion systems.
Current research: I am interested in using fusion systems to simplify part of the proof of the theorem classifying the finite simple groups.
