The application and significance of fractional differential equation (FDE) models in cancer research are explored in this presentation. Emphasising their advantage over traditional integer-order models in capturing the complex, memory-dependent, and non-local nature of cancer dynamics. By integrating fractional calculus, FDEs enable more accurate modelling of tumour growth, treatment response, metastasis, and microenvironmental interactions. Their theoretical foundations, applications, computational methods, and ongoing challenges are highlighted. FDEs are emerging as powerful tools in mathematical oncology, offering enhanced predictive power, deeper mechanistic insights, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, ultimately advancing personalised therapies and accelerating drug discovery despite computational and data validation hurdles.
