Abstract
We begin with a brief motivation on why quantum error correction is important. We give an overview of classical error correction as a foundation to understand quantum error correction. We see the three-qubit bit flip and phase flip quantum error correcting codes using stabilizer formalism. We discuss the Shor’s code which is used to correct both bit and phase flip errors. We analize the necessary and sufficient conditions for quantum error correcting codes.
