SUMMARY PROFILE
I am currently a Full Professor of Geology at the Department of Earth Science, University Ghana. I have over 25 years experience spanning industry and academia. I have broad-base experience in geology, with petrology, field geology, mineral exploration, and applied geochemistry being my key specialization areas. My current research efforts are on the Precambrian Geology and Metallogeny of the Pan African Belt and the Birimian of West Africa. I joined the University of Ghana as a Lecturer in March 2000. I became a Senior Lecturer in February 2009, Associate Professor in April 2012 and Professor in February 2016. I was the Head of the Department of Earth Science, University of Ghana, from June 2011 to July 2016.
I have worked at the Ghana’s Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) as a Research Geologist (1993-1996), and with large International Mining and Mineral Exploration Companies, and Small and Private Mineral Exploration Tenements that include precious minerals, industrial minerals and rocks (1996-2000). For these reasons my interest in geochemical exploration of precious and industrial minerals and rocks, still constitute major part of my research activities. My other research interests are in geochemistry of uranium and strategic metals, mine spoils and rock-water interactions. I have over 90 publications in the field of geosciences, including journal papers, technical and expert reports and abstracts.
Since 2000, I have served as a Consulting Geoscientist in different capacities to the private and public sectors in different operations, and in mineral exploration projects and applied research and development. I have served as Expert Witness at the International Court of Arbitration, and also as Expert Reviewer, for the Government of The Republic of Ghana in mineral arbitration cases (2013-2016). Within my area of expertise, I meet the requirements in terms of work experience and professional memberships for “Competent Person’s” standing. I am a member of the Ghana Institution of Geoscientists, Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society, European Association of Geochemistry, Australian Institute of Geoscientists, Life Member of the Geological Society of Africa (Council Member, and Membership Secretary) and Fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists.
