UG Congregation - Graduation Eligibility

ELIGIBILITY FOR GRADUATION: 

Welcome to the University of Ghana Graduation Eligibility Information. We want to ensure that you have all the necessary details to successfully graduate and participate in our prestigious Congregation Ceremonies. Here are the key requirements you need to meet:

1. ACADEMIC REGULATIONS

To qualify for graduation, there are some obligations. Please familiarize yourself with the University of Ghana Regulations for Junior Members available at this link. Here's a glimpse:

  • Requirements for Bachelor’s Graduation:
    • Fulfill all General University and Faculty/School requirements.
    • Accumulate the minimum required credits, including core and prescribed electives.
  • Confirmation of Award of Degree:
    • The Academic Board approves the list of eligible candidates.
    • No award is confirmed without satisfying all conditions.
  • Presentation of Award:
    • Candidates are awarded the appropriate Bachelor's degree at a the assembly of Congregation under the University's seal.

2. FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS

If you have outstanding bills, promptly settle them by contacting the Student Accounts Office at Jones Quartey Building, Ground Floor. Outstanding accomodation rent, over-due library books, etc. also need to be cleared. Please, ensure that all your obligations to the University are met.

3. OUTSTANDING DISCIPLINARY/EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE ISSUES

Contact the Director of Academic Affairs for resolution if you have outstanding disciplinary or examination malpractice issues.

4. SUPPORT

For assistance in checking your academic status and eligibility, reach out to your respective College Academic Officer:

  • College of Basic and Applied Sciences:

First floor, CBAS Administration, School of Agriculture Building, Legon Campus.

  • College of Education:

Located within the School of Continuing and Distance Education premises, near the Radio Univers Office. Contact coeacademic@ug.edu.gh or call 0362194377, 0503899803, or 0264410136.

  • College of Health Sciences:

CHS Administration Building, next to UG Dental School, Korle-Bu Campus.

  • College of Humanities:

First Floor, UGBS Building, Opposite Department of Food and Nutrition, Legon Campus.

5. UG RIGHT TO CANCEL, WITHDRAW, WITHHOLD

Be aware of Section 7.16b of the University of Ghana Regulations for Junior Members. The University reserves the right to cancel, withhold, or withdraw an award under specific circumstances outlined in the regulations.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

  • Students are not required to register and attend the Congregation Ceremony to be eligible for graduation.
