As a professional nurse trained in Ghana, my main objective is to ensure the attainment of quality care for patients and their families. Advocating for the rights of the population is a priority for me, both in academia and in clinical practice. Using my scholarship and knowledge to train quality nurses to provide optimum patient and family-centred care is a hallmark.
Dr Mrs. Priscilla Yeye Adumoah Attafuah was employed at the University of Ghana in 2019 as an Assistant Lecturer. Before joining the University, she was with Valley View University for close to 7 years. She served as a Nursing Officer at the Tema General Hospital and Port Medical Centre, Tema. Currently, she is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Outside the university, she runs the Geriatric Hub, an NGO focused on the well-being of older adults. Dr Eric Tornu is a Lecturer and the Clinical Coordinator for the Registered General Nursing Programme in the Adult Health Department at the University of Ghana School of Nursing and Midwifery in Accra, Ghana.
Dr. Merri Iddrisu is a dedicated and experienced nursing educator specializing in adult health nursing, particularly in women's health, inclusive health access, psychosocial oncology, and palliative care. With over 19 years of clinical experience in diverse healthcare settings, Dr. Iddrisu is deeply committed to advancing nursing education and improving healthcare delivery systems in Ghana. She enjoys teaching practical skills through scenarios, problem-based learning, stories, and role-play, fostering an engaging environment for students. Additionally, Dr.
Dr. David Tenkorang-Twum, a Lecturer of University of Ghana, had his State Registered nursing education at Koforidua Nursing and Midwifery Training College between 1998-2001. Between 2001 and 2004 he worked in Koforidua Regional Hospital Theatre as a staff nurse. Proceeded to Komfo Anokye Nurse Anaesthesia Training College in 2005 and trained as Certified Registered Anaesthethist. In 2009 he was admitted to University of Ghana, Legon and graduated with Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Further, he graduated with Master of Philosophy in Nursing in the same University.
I am an exceptional registered midwife with over thirteen (13) years’ progressive experience in midwifery practice, maternal, newborn, women’s health, sexual reproductive health programme management, nursing and midwifery education, research, gender advocacy, workforce development, and policy engagement.
Dr. Deegbe has twelve years of experience in mental health nursing. He joined the SoNM, University of Ghana, as an assistant lecturer at the Mental Health Nursing Department and is now a Lecturer. His research areas are psychosocial aspects of epilepsy, mental illness, and epilepsy-related quality of life, tool development, stigma in mental illness, depression, anxiety, and stress.
