Library Collections
Our collections are curated to support the academic and professional needs of nursing and midwifery scholars. They include:
- Textbooks and Reference Books in Nursing, Midwifery, Public Health, Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, and related fields
- Academic Journals and Periodicals (print and electronic)
- Electronic Databases including JoVE, PubMed resources, HINARI, ScienceDirect, and other UG Library subscriptions
- Theses, Dissertations, and Faculty Publications
- Clinical skills videos, multimedia materials, and e-learning resources
- Institutional and policy documents relevant to nursing and midwifery practice
Administration & Organization of the Library
The School of Nursing and Midwifery Library operates under the University of Ghana Library System (UGLS). It is administered by a professional librarian supported by a library assistant and collaborates closely with the Balme Library and other satellite libraries to ensure quality service delivery.
Core units include:
- User Services Section (circulation, reference, information literacy)
- Technical Services Section (cataloguing, classification, processing)
- Digital & E-Resources Support (database access, electronic services)
Library Rules
To maintain a productive, welcoming environment, users are kindly expected to:
- Carry a valid UG ID card for access and borrowing.
- Keep noise to a minimum; use designated areas for group discussions.
- Handle all library materials with care and return them on time.
- Refrain from food and drinks within the reading areas.
- Use electronic devices responsibly—silence phones at all times.
- Respect all copyright and plagiarism regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and protect library equipment and furniture.

- Library Loud Day (students are allowed to have group discussions, meetings, and even phone calls within the library. There is no shii, shii that day)
