Nursing and Midwifery are dynamic and challenging professions, which serve to promote, maintain and restore health. The changing trends in health needs, health technology and the expectations of clients require that the graduate nurse and midwife acquire knowledge and skills of the highest standard to meet the challenges of modern-day nursing and midwifery. It is against this background that the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Ghana, has improved upon its programmes to meet the current needs of the job market and the changing trends in Ghana and abroad.
Currently, students are awarded BSc Nursing with one of the following options: General Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Public Health Nursing, and Mental Health Nursing leading to licensure in the option of choice. In addition, midwifery students are awarded BSc. Midwifery upon graduation. These four-year degree programmes will have Level 100 counting towards graduation. Nurses and Midwives who hold University recognised Diploma in Nursing or Midwifery will enter the programme at Level 200 (FGPA 2.5 - 3.24) or Level 300 (FGPA 3.25 - 4.0).
