Agnes Schneider-Musah is the Academic Coordinator at the Merian Institute for Advanced Studies in Africa (MIASA), at the University of Ghana. As part of the team based at the Institute in Accra on Legon campus, she serves as a contact for partners and institutions in Ghana, Germany, Africa and worldwide. Her main responsibilities are the financial management of the core fund from the German government, the coordination of fellow selection and fellow support, as well as public relations. She is the first point of contact for fellows and workshop organisers in administrative matters. Agnes Schneider-Musah is a trained linguist and received her doctorate from the University of Freiburg, Germany, in 2015 for her thesis on English in Ghana.

Since June 2018, Annika Hampel is the Managing Director and Scientific Coordinator of the to be established Africa Centre at the University of Freiburg. She further acts as contact person between the University of Ghana in Accra, the University of Freiburg (represented by the Arnold-Bergstraesser-Institute - ABI and Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies - FRIAS) and other partners involved in building up and shaping the Merian Institute for Advanced Studies in Africa. She received her doctorate with distinction at the Institute for Cultural Policy of the University of Hildesheim in 2014 for her thesis on international cooperation in culture, education, and science.

Alison Sauer is Project Coordinator – Administration MIASA of the Maria Sibylla Merian Institute for Advanced Studies in Africa (MIASA) at the University of Freiburg. She is in charge of the administration of the BMBF third-party funding at the University of Freiburg as well as counterpart for all project executing bodies, the consortium partners, and counterparts at the University of Ghana. Alison Sauer manages events and travel of international, especially African researchers in Accra and Freiburg and is contact person for public relations of the project.
