Urban systems are under increasing pressure due to urban modifications and changes such as demographic, climate change, land use, and waste management with impacts on water and peri-urban agricultural resilience. However, most urban resilience strategies and policies focus largely on managing and adapting to current disasters, while the underlying political and environmental issues are not addressed. Clean urban environment, including water and food systems, are crucial for urban ecosystem service provision but to what extent are cities in Ghana resilient to these stresses? There is a need for sustainable and integrated governance models to mitigate risks and build resilience. This IFG aims to develop critical perspectives on the governance for urban water and agriculture resilience in Ghana and bring together a group of junior and senior scholars from a variety of disciplines and regions to jointly develop innovative research and share knowledge with communities and crucial stakeholders.
