The Department welcome Mr. Emmanuel Appiah-Korang is a seasoned Energy and Management Consultant with over 45 years of experience for both the public and private sectors in Ghana. He was educated at Government Secondary Technical School for both O and A-levels, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology and University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign with BS (1969) & MS (71) in Mechanical Engineering, respectively. He has experience in the downstream Petroleum Industry in USA and Ghana. He was Minister responsible for Energy (1982-87), Minister for Works & Housing (1988) and Chairman of the Cabinet Sub-Committee and Infrastructure (1984-88). He was Founder and Managing Director of InterTech Services Ltd. He has also acted in advisory roles to Government on Energy Policy Formulation, Power Sector Reform and Petroleum Sector Deregulation. He worked at Petroleum Department, Ministry of Energy, Management Development and Productivity Institute, and Tema Oil Refinery. His Past Board Memberships include Vanguard Assurance, GNPC, Ghana Bauxite Co. Ltd (Chair) and GRIDCo (Chair). He currently serves as Board Chair of Nuclear Power Ghana.
The conversation is on Modern Governments manage complex systems with the objective of improving the quality of life for their citizens. The system of governance in Ghana has evolved from the colonial era to current system in the fourth Republic. Technical Professionals have played various roles as the system has evolved. These roles and their impact on the development process are highlighted. The Ghana experience is compared to that of Singapore. The overall objective is to engage and stimulate discussion with young and aspiring Technical Professionals on what needs to be done, and their perceived role in enhancing the quality of Policy formulation, implementation
