UG DISTANCE EDUCATION HOSTS A VIBRANT FRESHERS AKWAABA FESTIVAL TO WELCOME 2024/2025 STUDENTS.
The UG Distance Education Junior Common Room officially kicked off the 2024/2025 academic year in style with its highly anticipated Freshers AKWAABA Festival and AKWAABA Night, a full-day celebration dedicated to warmly welcoming newly admitted students into the university community.
Distance Education Student Forum
The Department of Distance Education's Student Support Unit held its maiden student forum for the 2024/2025 academic year on March 7th, 2025, via Microsoft Teams. The virtual event attracted over 1,000 participants, including students and faculty. Aligned with the University of Ghana's strategic plan, the forum aimed to enhance student engagement and address concerns about examinations and academic integrity.

Workshop to develop an employability framework for the University of Ghana
STRENGTHENING THE EMPLOYABILITY JOURNEY OF STUDENTS THROUGH COL
The University of Ghana's Department of Distance Education, in collaboration with the Commonwealth of Learning, held a two-day workshop from the February 3rd to 4th February 2025 to develop an employability framework for the university. By the end of the workshop, an employability framework for the University of Ghana had been developed based on the COL Employability Model.

Farewell ceremony and appreciation of services for retiring and departing staff of the department of distance education
The Department of Distance Education, as a united family, organized a farewell ceremony for three of its retiring and departing staff members, Dr. Akweley Otoo, Ms. Valentine Gemegah, and Mr. Erick Adjei Mantey, at the Smart Classroom of the School of Continuing and Distance Education on August 1, 2024.
Three-day Workshop on Academic Engagement and Knowledge Sharing
The Department of Distance Education, part of the School of Continuing and Distance Education (SCDE), successfully conducted a three-day workshop focused on academic engagement and knowledge sharing from June 3 to 5 2024.
Research project dissemination
On April 25, 2024, the Department of Distance Education organised a research project dissemination seminar on the theme: State of Higher Education Infrastructure Financing in Ghana: Challenges and Strategies.
