On 17 September 2025, a students’ forum, dubbed "As You Prepare for Your Exams," was held via MS Teams from 6:00 pm to 8:20 pm at the Department of Distance Education, attracting over 500 students. This was the second forum for the second semester and the fourth in the series for the 2024/2025 academic year. The goal was to discuss key strategies for exam preparation.
The forum commenced with a statement of purpose delivered by Dr Jonathan Odame, Head of the Student Support Unit. This introduction set the tone for the evening, emphasising the importance of preparing adequately for exams to ensure academic success. Following this, the Acting Head of Department (Ag. HOD), Dr. Kofi Adu-Koranteng, provided an opening statement, further underscoring the relevance of the interaction and the collective responsibility of students in upholding academic integrity.
Madam Cynthia Adeborna then led a presentation on exam preparation, covering time management, prioritising tasks, and creating effective study plans to boost productivity. To strengthen student-management collaboration, the UGDE-JCR President, Mr. Solomon Avorkah, urged students to study hard and do their best in the upcoming exams.
The forum also discussed examination malpractice, with Mr. Ebenezer Odame Darkwah explaining its forms, consequences, and disciplinary actions. Knowing these rules helps to promote integrity and honesty among students. The forum also outlined the rules and conditions for conducting exams at the University of Ghana. This covered behaviour in examination halls and emphasised the importance of punctuality and carrying a valid student ID Card. Dr. Yvette Ussher, the School Examinations Officer, conducted this part. She ended her section by encouraging students to show respect to invigilators and their assistants.
The forum concluded with an interactive Q&A session, during which students raised questions, concerns and suggestions. Engaging with faculty and peers enabled clarification and discussion. It was well-attended and moderated by Mrs Ruby Kodom. Overall, the student forum provided a valuable platform for students to gain insights and practical advice on exam preparation. This forum effectively achieved its goal of helping students approach their exams with greater confidence.
