Message from the Prof. Richard Kwamla Amewu

The Department of Chemistry is a reputable world-class teaching and research unit within the University of Ghana. We have an exceptional record in Natural Products Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry. We provide a highly interdisciplinary education across all the branches of Inorganic, Material, Organic, Medicinal, Computational, Physical, Environmental and Analytical Chemistry. Our programs and curriculum are intentionally engineered to allow our students to receive training that makes them thorough, problem-solvers, analytical and critical thinkers, and effective oral and written communicators. Our faculty interactions with students create the right environment that supports useful time management and teamwork for the growth and professional development of our students and faculty members. We offer separate Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees in Chemistry, Chemistry with Physics, Chemistry with Earth Science, and Chemistry with Biochemistry. We also offer the following graduate degrees: Master of Philosophy in Chemistry (MPhil Chemistry) and Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry (Ph.D. Chemistry). All our degree programs focus heavily on practical work, directly bringing theoretical knowledge from the lectures to application in the laboratory.
