About

Dr Solomon Kofi Amoah holds a first degree in Sociology with the Study of Religions and an MPhil in Sociology from the University of Ghana, Legon. He went on to take a PhD in Sociology at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, University of Cape Coast where he worked on governance and executive transitions in civil society organisations in Ghana. Solomon worked at the Department of Distance Education, University of Ghana for three years before joining the Department of Sociology in August 2021 where he teaches and supervises students at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels.

Grants and Projects

BANGA Seed Research Grant - April 2022 by the Carnegie Corporation of New York & University of Ghana under the BANGA-Africa (Building a New Generation of Academics in Africa) Project.

· This seed grant is being used to explore the “formal-informal economy nexus” and its implication for decent work outcomes in agriculture.

Research Fellow: Next Generation Leadership Programme – 2017, by Ford Foundation, WACSI and Rockdale Foundation.

· The 2017 “WACSI Research Fellowship in Civil Society Governance and Leadership” provided a small grant for the exploration of governance and leadership transition in selected civil society organisations in Ghana.

Carnegie Scholar: Carnegie NGAA (Next Generation of Academics in Africa) Scholarship – 2012, by the Carnegie Corporation of New York & University of Ghana

· The scholarship was used to complete research on culture and managerial practices in selected Ghanaian universities.
