About

Professor Maxwell A. Asumeng is a Professor in Industrial and Organisational Psychology and a former Head of the Department of Psychology at the University of Ghana. He holds a PhD in Organisational & Occupational Psychology from the University of Surrey, UK. His research and teaching focus on managerial competency models, performance management and feedback-seeking behaviour, employee wellbeing, and organisational behaviour in African contexts. He has published influential work on how managers seek feedback about their performance and how competency frameworks can be adapted to improve leadership effectiveness and workforce development. Professor Asumeng’s work bridges theory and practice, offering insights that support leadership training, organisational growth, and evidence-based human resource management. As an academic leader and mentor, he has contributed to shaping the development of psychology in Ghana. He continues to inspire future psychologists, managers, and policymakers through research, teaching, and professional engagement.
