Welcome Message from Prof. Adote Anum

Head of the Department of Psychology

Thank you for visiting our Department. Whether you are a prospective student, a colleague, an alumnus, or a partner, you are welcome here. Our goal is simple. We develop thinkers and practitioners who use psychology to improve lives in Ghana, Africa, and beyond.

We teach with care and high standards. Students learn through lectures, labs, fieldwork, and community projects. We link theory, research, and practice so graduates can solve real problems with evidence and ethics.

What you can study

  • Undergraduate BA or BSc in Psychology. Study as a single major or a combined major.
  • MPhil Clinical, Counselling, Developmental, Industrial and Organizational, Social and Community Psychology.
  • PhD General programme that supports diverse research interests.

Every graduate student completes at least 500 hours of practicum. Doctoral students also take a year of experiential learning in industry, clinical practice, teaching, and research.

Our research
Faculty lead work in adolescent mental health, ageing, suicide and suicide prevention, forgiveness and mental health, and the social psychology of health and illness. We aim for impact. We publish, we advise, and we serve communities and institutions.

Where we are going
In the next few years we will raise our research profile, deepen partnerships with industry and public agencies, and strengthen our resources to support teaching and innovation. We are also developing new, practice-focused graduate programmes to meet emerging needs.

I invite you to explore our website, meet our faculty, and connect with us. If you want to study, collaborate, or support our work, we are ready to engage.

Warm regards,

Professor Adote Anum
