Overview

Our graduate programmes develop advanced knowledge and real-world skills. We offer MPhil degrees in Clinical, Counselling, Developmental, Industrial and Organizational, and Social Psychology, plus a PhD that supports diverse research interests. Training blends theory, research, practice, and supervision. Every graduate student completes at least 500 hours of practicum; PhD students add a year of experiential learning in industry, clinical practice, teaching, and research.

Aims & Objectives

By the end of the programme, graduates should be able to:

• Master core and applied theories in their area of specialisation.
• Design and conduct ethical research; analyse and report data clearly.
• Translate evidence into practice in clinics, organisations, schools, and communities.
• Communicate findings to professional and public audiences.
• Work with cultural awareness and Ghanaian/African examples.
• Lead projects and collaborate across disciplines and sectors.

Tuition Method

Learning uses seminars, supervision, field placements, research methods workshops and thesis work.

Entry Requirement

• Basic requirement: a good first degree in Psychology (minimum Second Class Lower Division).
• Preferred background: first degree in Psychology.
• Related fields: applicants without a first degree in Psychology but with equivalent degrees in Sociology or Social Work may be considered.
• Selection: all applicants will write an entry examination and attend an interview.
• Meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee admission; selection is competitive.
