About

Professor Kwaku Oppong Asante is a Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychology at the University of Ghana, Accra. His research focuses on the mental health of adolescents and young adults, with particular interest in suicidal behaviour, common mental health disorders, and substance abuse and misuse. He is considered a global leading researcher whose work influences policy and advances child and adolescent mental health, especially within the African region. Professor Oppong Asante is deeply committed to mentoring Early Career Researchers (ECRs) and has guided many to publish in high-impact journals over the past decade. He has an extensive publication record and has served as an ad-hoc reviewer for numerous academic journals for more than 17 years. He currently serves as Editor of the Ghana Social Science Journal and as Associate Editor for Frontiers in Adolescent Medicine, BMC Public Health, and Scientific Reports. Professor Oppong Asante has facilitated several "Writing for Publication" workshops for ECRs at institutions including the University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast (Ghana), and multiple South African universities such as the University of Johannesburg, University of Limpopo, University of the Free State, and the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
