Graduate Lecture Room, Department of Psychology, University of Ghana
The Department of Psychology invites you to a special seminar to mark the Day of Scientific Renaissance of Africa. Dr Afua Twum-Danso Imoh of the University of Bristol will lead the discussion.
Her talk questions the common idea that children are incompetent. She argues that this assumption shapes how societies frame children’s rights, often in ways that limit children’s voice and agency. The seminar examines what changes when we treat children as capable contributors rather than passive dependants.
The topic speaks to childhood studies, developmental psychology, and rights advocacy across African contexts. Staff, students, and the public are welcome.
Join us in the Graduate Lecture Room on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, at 12:00pm.
