The Department of Psychology congratulates Dr Angela Anarfi Gyasi-Gyamerah on her promotion to Associate Professor. A social psychologist, her research focuses on sexual and reproductive health, with current work on abortion decision-making and cohabitation among emerging adults in Ghana. She teaches courses across the graduate and undergraduate programmes, including Social Psychology, Applied Social Psychology, and the Psychology of Learning. She also founded Dialogue Genitalia Ghana, a social advocacy initiative that opens safe spaces to discuss sexual and reproductive health.
Prof Gyasi-Gyamerah brings field experience from work with street youth and frontline communities through the Streetwise Project Ghana and the West Africa Project to Combat AIDS and STI to her teaching and research. Her recent collaborative work on personhood and mental illness in Akan and Ewe communities, attitudes toward homosexuality in Ghana, and the development of a Cohabitation Intentions Scale shows the range of her scholarship. The Department congratulates her and welcomes the next phase of her leadership in social psychology.
A social psychologist who pairs scholarship with public advocacy, Prof Gyasi-Gyamerah brings difficult conversations into the open and grounds them in evidence.
