Michael Ohene Okantah Junior holds a Master’s degree in Ethnomusicology and a Bachelor’s degree in music and Psychology from the University of Ghana. He is currently an Assistant lecturer and a PhD candidate funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. He teaches courses in Introduction of Music and African Music in the Department of Music. He serves as the local organizing committee member for the International Council for Traditional Music and the International Federation for Theatre Research. He is also a member of the South African Society for Research in Music and served as an executive member. He has presented his research works at international conferences in Ghana and beyond and has been actively involved in nurturing undergraduate students through conference participation and other research activities. His current research is on revitalizing and sustaining Osoode, a Ghanaian indigenous musical tradition. He is also involved with church music and serves as the Music Director for Towadah Sounds, a non-denominational Singing group.
