The Department of Music at the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana, proudly announces an upcoming electrify unplugged session featuring the Department's Jama Ensemble. This performance is dubbed 'Maame Obolo,' which humorously conceptualizes plus-size women and celebrates their grace and strength. The event is scheduled for Thursday, 7th March 2024, at the forecourt of the Department.
The Jama Ensemble, a recent addition to the Department of Music, offers energetic group performances rooted in folk traditions and community chants. Led by Dr. Eyram E. K. Fiagbedzi, the ensemble presents a dynamic blend of traditional and contemporary Ghanaian music, enriching both academic engagement and performance creativity.
This event will mark the debut of Level 100 students of the ensemble, promising an unforgettable evening filled with sweet Jama tunes. Join us for a night of entertainment and cultural exploration as we showcase one of the vibrant music traditions of Ghana.
