The Music department participated in an orientation session organised by the School of Performing Arts at the University of Ghana. It took place on the 2nd February 2026 at the ETS Drama Studio. The purpose of this orientation was to officially welcome newly admitted students into the School.

The session was attended by Heads of Departments, members of faculty and administrative staff. In his opening remarks, the Dean of the School explained the purpose of the gathering and encouraged students to take their time at the University seriously. He advised them to be intentional about the choices they make, reminding them that they will encounter people from different backgrounds, but it is up to them to choose their own paths. He also urged students not to be influenced by stereotypes associated with the performing arts.
The School administrator, librarians, and accounts officers were introduced to familiarize students with the support systems available to them.

Dr. Benjamin Amakye-Boateng, Head of Department, introduced faculty of the department present. He spoke on the various courses students are required to register, and highlighted the facilities available to students. He stressed that students should be the growth they want to see of the department.

The orientation ended with an interactive question and answer session, allowing students to seek clarification on academic and administrative matters as they begin their journey in the School of Performing Arts.
