The Department of Music on Thursday, 29th January 2026, held the first Unplugged Session of the semester at the Department’s courtyard. The session featured Bandless UG, a student ensemble made up of core members of the Department’s Dance Band, including Kelvin Antwi (drums), Emmanuel Nii Okine (keyboards), Grace Aboagye (bass), and Cybll Abbey and Jeff Gyasi (vocals). The group opened the series with an energetic live performance.

The performance set the tone for the semester’s Unplugged Sessions, an initiative by Dr Eric Sunu Doe is designed to create an informal performance space that encourages live musicianship, peer learning, and audience engagement within the Department and the wider School of Performing Arts community. The session attracted a large number of students who gathered in the courtyard to enjoy the performance. The lively atmosphere reflected strong student interest in live band performance and collaborative music-making. They sang along to popular tunes, interacted with performers, and participated actively throughout the session.

Beyond entertainment value, the Unplugged Sessions provide students with opportunities to develop stage confidence, ensemble sensitivity, and audience communication skills within a very supportive environment. The initiative further reinforces the Department’s commitment to performance-based learning and the development of practical musicianship. The successful opening session by Bandless UG sets a strong foundation for upcoming Unplugged performances scheduled for the semester.
