Dr. Abdul Baasit Aziz Bamba 

Acting Legal Counsel 

Dr. Abdul Baasit Aziz Bamba is a distinguished legal scholar and practitioner who currently serves as the Acting Legal Counsel at the Legal Affairs Directorate since January 2023. He is also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law, where he teaches a wide array of courses, including Law and Society, Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Human Rights Law, Natural Resources Law, and Investment and International Commercial Arbitration.

Dr. Aziz Bamba's academic credentials are impressive. He holds both a Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Harvard Law School in Cambridge, USA. During his time at Harvard, from 2007 to 2009, he was a teaching assistant to Professor Lucie White and served as an LLM advisor for two consecutive years. He also gained experience as a teaching assistant to Professor E.V.O Dankwa at the University of Ghana's Faculty of Law.

In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Aziz Bamba has a rich background in private legal practice and consultancy. He has held various positions, including Legal Officer, Legislative Analyst and Specialist, Director of Programs and Projects, and Associate Executive Director at the Legal Resources Centre in Ghana. His consultancy work spans several prominent organizations, such as the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, UK Department for International Development, World Bank, Harvard University's Committee of African Studies, the Government of Ghana, and Action Aid International.

Dr. Aziz Bamba's consultancy and project work have involved leadership training for political party leaders, alternative livelihood projects, court users and access to justice studies, property rights research, legislative interventions, and rights-based approaches to development.
