ADMISSION INTO THE MASTER OF ARTS (M.A) PROGRAMME IN TRANSLATION
2025/2026 ACADEMIC YEAR
I. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR M.A TRANSLATION PROGRAMME
1. A good first degree in English and a high level of proficiency in French; or
2. A good first degree in French and a high level of proficiency in English.
3. A good first degree in any subject with a high level of proficiency in English and French
4. Any other qualification relevant to the programme may also be considered.
In addition, all candidates will be expected to show proof of a high level of proficiency in English and French before they are considered for admission.
Nature of Programme and Duration
The Master of Arts in Translation is currently a fifteen-month programme and consisting of course work, internship and a translation project leading to the award of M.A. in Translation.
II. LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the above Entry Requirements, candidates should take note that the active languages offered on the programme are English and French.

III. COMPETITIVE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION & INTERVIEW
The Competitive Entrance Examination & Interview will take place normally around JULY each year, and may be in person or online. Candidates will:
(a) sit for a written test;
(b) be interviewed on their general background and general knowledge based on questions drawn up by the selection committee;

Applicants are expected to pay to the University, a non-refundable application processing fee of US$55.00.

The pay-in-slips, together with applicants’ certificates and transcripts should be scanned and attached to the application form before submission. The transcript should be scanned into one PDF document and attached to the application.
Note that no application will be processed without proof- of - payment of the fees
Ghanaian Applicants
University of Ghana application e-vouchers can be obtained by Ghanaian applicants for GHS220.00 at the following banks: Zenith Bank, Universal Merchant Bank, Access Bank, Ecobank, Republic Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, Consolidated Bank Ghana, GCB Bank, First Atlantic Bank and Fidelity Bank. Applicants should carefully follow the instructions on the voucher when completing the online application form.

Applicants who did not graduate from the University of Ghana must submit the following documents online (Scan and Attach):
• Bachelor’s Degree Certificate and Transcript
• Three referees’ reports are required (provide the details of the referees online)
• PhD applicants should attach their Research Proposals to the application (Not more than Four pages)
• Scan and upload a Gazette/Marriage certificate where name has changed
The official transcript should be scanned into one PDF or WORD document and attached to the application.
NOTE THAT NO APPLICATION WILL BE PROCESSED WITHOUT THE CERTIFICATE/OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT OR GAZETTE/MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE WHERE NAME HAS CHANGED. The originals will be required during interviews.
All applicants who graduated from the University of Ghana from 1996 to date should indicate their ‘STUDENT IDENTITY NUMBERS’ on their forms before submission.
N.B. Kindly write your serial number as it appears on the e-voucher on all the above documents before submitting them. The name of the programme being applied for and your telephone number should also be written on all the documents.

As part of the application process:
• Applicants are required to scan and attach copies of their bachelor’s degree certificates and transcripts in PDF format.
• Applicants who are University of Ghana graduates must scan and attach only their bachelor’s degree certificates.
• All applicants who graduated from the University of Ghana from 1996 to date should indicate their correct ‘STUDENT IDENTITY NUMBERS’ before submission.
• All applicants must provide details of three referees.
NOTE:
i) The names provided on the application portal must correspond with those on certificates and transcript
ii) Where the applicant’s name has changed or is different from that on the certificate and transcript, a Gazette must be provided.
iii) Where the arrangement or spelling of names has changed, an affidavit must be provided.
APPLICANTS MUST ENSURE THAT THEIR ON-LINE APPLICATIONS ARE CORRECTLY FILLED AND RECEIPT ACKNOWLEDGED ON SUBMISSION. APPLICANTS MUST ENSURE THAT CORRECT ADDRESSES AND TELEPHONE NUMBERS ARE PROVIDED.
