The aim of the Doctor of Philosophy programme is to train high quality students interested in pursuing careers in academia or research, in the field of communication and media. This has become especially important considering the tremendous increase in institutions offering communication and media degrees in the country, and the need to equip them with teaching faculty.
Programme Objectives
The objectives of the programme are to:
- to train scholars to take up teaching and research roles in higher education media and communication programmes
- to train scholars to take up research roles in media development organisations, research institutes, government agencies and development agencies
- to train scholars to actively contribute to knowledge creation and sharing about communication phenomena
Admission Requirements
Applicants must have a good Master’s degree in a communication discipline. Applicants from other disciplines may be required to complete the MA course work before being upgraded to the PhD programme.
