PhD in Communication Studies

The aim of the Doctor of Philosophy programme is to train high quality students interested in pursuing careers in academia or research, in the field of communication and media. This has become especially important considering the tremendous increase in institutions offering communication and media degrees in the country, and the need to equip them with teaching faculty.

Programme Objectives

The objectives of the programme are to:

  • to train scholars to take up teaching and research roles in higher education media and communication programmes
  • to train scholars to take up research roles in media development organisations, research institutes, government agencies and development agencies
  • to train scholars to actively contribute to knowledge creation and sharing about communication phenomena
