ON-GOING ACTIVITIES
1. Training for Newly Appointed Academic Staff:
The Academic Quality Assurance Unit (AQAU) in collaboration with the Centre for Teaching and Learning Innovation (CTLI) and the University of Ghana Computing Systems (UGCS) is organizing pedagogical training and the use of the SAKAI Learning Management Platform for newly appointed academic faculty. The training aims to equip these faculty with the pedagogical skills needed to enhance teaching and learning, as well as the skills needed to navigate life as academics
2. Staff Development Training:
The Unit in collaboration with the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science is organizing training for its staff. The training which will be held on weekends will span a period of six three weeks. The training aims to enhance the skills and knowledge in Research and Data Analysis of the Unit’s monitoring and research team. It is expected that this training will contribute to the overall productivity and effectiveness in achieving the Unit’s mandate.
3. Revision of Course and Lecturer Evaluation (CLE) Questionnaire:
Based on inputs from both students and lecturers, the Unit has revised its instrument for the CLE and is in the process of uploading the new instrument onto the system
4. Best Lecturer Award:
To stimulate and encourage Lecturers to give their best, a Committee has been constituted to develop the methodology and the award of the best Lecturer using the CLE.
5. CLE for Distance and Pre-Medical Students in the College of Health Sciences (CHS):
The CLE Portal for the second semester of the 2022/2023 academic year for students in the School of Distance and Continuing Education, and Pre-Clinical Medical Students in the College of Health Sciences (CHS) is underway.
6. Introduction of CLE for Clinical Practices Courses:
The Unit is in the process of finalizing and uploading an instrument that will help evaluate clinical practice courses at the CHS by students.
Welcome to the Academic Quality Assurance Unit of the University of Ghana
The Academic Quality Assurance Unit (AQAU) is responsible for overseeing academic quality in all Academic Units, Programmes and Institutions which award University of Ghana degrees. The AQAU seeks to establish and safeguard high standards and good practices in teaching, learning and assessment.
Its remit is to ensure that approved quality standards are adhered to at the University of Ghana and that management are well informed about problems associated with maintaining such standards for appropriate action.
