Units
There are currently five main units under the Office of the Director, namely: Boards and Committees; Admissions, Students’ Services and Records, Teaching & Examinations, and the Affiliations Units. The Director's Office Coordinates the operations of these Units as well as the activities of the College Academic Offices for the Basic & Applied Sciences, Education, Health Sciences and Humanities.
Director's Office
The Office of the Director of Academic Affairs located in Room D10 of the Directorate is responsible for oversees and coordinates academic programmes, policies, and administrative functions related to the university's academic operations. On a daily basis, the office typically handles tasks such as:
Academic Policy Oversight: Developing, implementing, and reviewing academic policies to ensure smooth academic operations.
Student Records Management: Managing student admissions, registration, transcripts, and academic records.
Curriculum Development: Support for curriculum reviews, updates, and approvals in collaboration with faculty.
Examination and Assessment: Overseeing the administration of exams, grading, and certification processes.
Support for Faculty: Providing support for academic staff on policies, syllabi, and student matters.
Academic Scheduling: Planning and managing academic calendars, class schedules, and examination timetables.
Student Support Services: Addressing academic requests and concerns from students, such as transcript requests, academic standing, and graduation processing. Advisory on all matters
Digital Transformation Initiatives: Leading efforts to digitize academic processes, improve efficiency, and enhance service delivery.
Liaison Role: Acting as a bridge between the university administration, faculty, and students on academic issues.
Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensuring programs meet accreditation standards and university quality benchmarks.

Admissions Unit
The Unit coordinates undergraduate admissions and admissions outreach programmes including the University of Ghana Open Day programme. It coordinates outreach programmes for undergraduate students; admission of sub-degree, undergraduate and post-first degree and visiting international students. The Unit also oversees admissions into affiliate institutions and award of academic prizes. It is also responsible for matters concerning interruptions of programme of study, the administration of the University of Ghana Academic Prizes Fund and the organisation of the Vice-Chancellor’s awards ceremony in honour of academic award winners.

Students Services and Records Unit
The Unit located at Room D8 of the Directorate is responsible for managing academic records and archival processes, ensuring the highest standards of integrity, accuracy, efficiency, confidentiality, and security.
We handle the processing and issuance of essential academic documents, including transcripts, introductory letters, attestation letters, and certificates. Additionally, we manage the verification and attestation of academic records and documents, providing reliable and timely services to students, alumni, and organisations.

Teaching and Examinations Unit
The Teaching and Examinations Unit is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of key academic functions. This includes the meticulous preparation and scheduling of teaching and examination timetables and the optimal allocation of spaces for classes and exams. The Unit oversees the entire examination process, from venue setup and invigilator coordination to maintaining exam integrity and managing logistics. It also facilitates important student ceremonies, such as matriculation and graduation. A specialized sub-unit within the Unit manages all lecture halls, providing technical support to faculty and maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in these spaces. Boards and Committees Unit
The Boards and Committees Unit ensures the smooth running of the committee system in the University and services the Academic Board, Business and Executive Committee and Joint Examiners’ Board. The Unit prepares the University’s Academic Calendar and Schedule of Meetings and coordinates the production of student handbooks and Freshmen Orientation programmes.

Affiliations Unit
The Affiliations Unit in Room D3 of the Directorate facilitates the relationship between the University of Ghana (UG) and its private tertiary affiliate institutions by supervising and ensuring that the latter adheres to UG's policies and requirements. The Unit processes applications for affiliation, keeps and processes academic records of students and is responsible for the maintenance of UG's academic standards and integrity at the affiliate institutions, from admission of students until their graduation.
