DOMINIC TUFFOUR - PAST BENEFICIARY, FONDAZIONE EDU SHOLARHSIP

The Financial aid really had positive impacts on my academics. The scholarship helped me to move from second Class Upper to First Class from level 200 and I kept on the first-class scale from level 200 till I completed with progressive improvement in each semester. The primary factor is the financial aid because it provided me the sound mind to focus on my studies and the other factors could be attributed to time management, less friends on campus and regular attendance of lectures.

Currently, I am in USA, Georgia State University pursuing a PhD program in Political Science. Graciously, I am the only student pursuing PhD without master’s degree and only African student in my PhD cohort. I aspire to be a comparative Development Analyst after my program to help revamp the developmental strategies in Ghana and the World at large. I also desire to establish scholarship scheme to help brilliant but needy students to complete their inherent dreams.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Fondazione Edu scholarship Scheme for transforming my life positively through academic excellence. I am much grateful to you for this awesome support. I am currently doing my PhD in the quest to fulfil my ultimate dreams and this is happening due to the financial support and sound mind you provided for me during my undergraduate studies at the Ghana’s premier University. However, there are a lot of needy students entrapped in poverty with daily deteriorating dreams and I would like to seize this opportunity to make a clarion call to all philanthropists and benevolent organizations to support Student’s Financial Aid Office to widen their financial net to enroll more needy but brilliant students on the scheme.

PARRENDAH ADWOA KPELI - PAST BENEFICIARY OF EDUCATIONAL PATHWAYS INTERNATIONAL (EPI)

My Name is Parrendah Adwoa Kpeli. I am a Lecturer at Knutsford University College, a Chartered Accountant and a third year PhD candidate reading Accounting. I was a beneficiary of the Educational Pathways International (EPI) Scholarship from 2012 to 2016.

I was desperate to get a first degree. I knew within me that getting my bachelors will change my story. But then, there was no one at home earning a consistent income close to my annual tuition and accommodation fees. In fact, my application forms and first year school fees were covered by a stranger. I had a lot of “what next questions” on my mind after. When I saw the EPI call for sponsorship on the University of Ghana financial aid web page, I saw my way to redemption. I received a comprehensive scholarship and mentorship support to complete my BSc. Accounting degree with a first class (FGPA 3.72) in 2016.

If I had not been given the scholarship, things would have been difficult, however, the next alternative would have been to apply for a student’s loan or find a part time work to support my tuition. I was too desperate to consider quitting.

With the EPI scholarship, I did not only get financial assistance but mentorship and family. I had all round help. There was money, academic support, someone to talk to on any form of challenges and Good Company made up of equally needy and gifted students who had the aspirations of making it in life at all costs. This support brought me the relief and drive I needed to study hard.

I am currently a full-time Lecturer at Knutsford University College and a PhD candidate studying Accounting. I am in the third year now. I hope to complete my PhD dissertation soon. It is my dream to become a Professor of Accounting and Finance as well as a Business Consultant making impact in my home country and across the globe. I will love to own my funding agency soon. I believe education is the best gift you can give anyone, and money should never be a constraint to that.

I will use this opportunity to appeal to more donor organizations and individuals out there. There are many students at University of Ghana and other universities who need your help to reach their lives aims and aspirations. This is an urgent and appealing call on you to help change the world a needy student per time.
