Overview
The school runs an undergraduate programme leading to the award of Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Beginning the 2010/2011 Academic year, the school started the four-year degree programme, with students graduating in one of the specialty areas of mental health nursing, paediatric nursing, midwifery, general nursing, and Public health nursing. The programs have both theory and practical components. Every academic year consists of two semesters, each lasting 16 weeks. Students undertake 6 weeks of clinicals at the end of every academic year and 3weeks during each semester.

Tuition Method
The "Tuition Method" at the University of Ghana refers to the method of paying tuition fees, not the structure of academic courses. Ghanaian and international students can pay fees through approved banks using a fee deposit slip, online via the university's payment portal, or via mobile money or card payments. Additionally, students can use mobile money short codes like GHQR and the e-voucher system. Foreign students paying internationally must use platforms like PAPSS and ensure all charges are covered, as stated by the University of Ghana
Entry Requirement
The University of Ghana announces for the information of the general public, applicants, parents, and guardians that applications are open for the admission of prospective applicants into various undergraduate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic year. Applicants should take note of the following:
- All applicants who will be writing the WASSCE in 2025 are eligible to apply.
- Programmes at the College of Health Sciences, except those offered at the School of Allied Health Sciences, are offered as FIRST CHOICE programmes only.
- For second and third choices, applicants must choose courses from the Sciences.
Degree Requirements
Two categories of applicants are considered for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programme:
- West Africa Senior High School Certificate or its equivalent.
- Diploma in Nursing Holders (enter at Level 200)
WASSCE Applicants
- General University requirements are applied
- School requirements
In addition to the above, applicants must have:
- A minimum of C6/D in Core courses
- A minimum of C6/D in each of the elective subjects, preferably science electives.
Diploma Holders
Two categories of diploma holders will be considered for admission:
- Holders of a Diploma in Nursing Education/Administration from a recognized University should have a minimum of a B+ average or second class upper.
Holders of a Diploma in nursing from a recognized institution of nursing with a minimum CGPA of 3.25.
