Prof. Kwadwo Ameyaw Korsah
Associate Professor
About
Professor Kwadwo Ameyaw Korsah is an Associate Professor of Adult Health Nursing at the University of Ghana, School of Nursing and Midwifery, Department of Adult Health. His current research focuses on chronic diseases and the social determinants of non-communicable diseases, particularly emphasizing the role of cultural factors in nursing care. He has extensive experience in researching the intersection of health and social factors. He is well-grounded in qualitative research.
His expertise is particularly in the areas of diabetes mellitus research and the socio-cultural aspects of health. His previous work has explored the influence of social capital, religion, coping, and cultural factors on the management of chronic diseases and diabetes, providing valuable insights into how these elements can be integrated into nursing care practices.
His research has also explored innovative approaches to non-communicable disease (NCD) management, including the integration of digital health solutions and patient-centered care models. One of his studies found that short message service (SMS) reminders are an effective tool for improving medication adherence among patients with chronic diseases, particularly in resource-limited settings.
He recognizes the importance of empathy and reflective nursing in improving patient outcomes, emphasizing the need for holistic and patient-centered care. Professor Korsah received the Best Teacher Award and a Citation in the School of Nursing, College of Health Sciences, University of Ghana, Legon for the 2009/2010 Academic Year.
