Students Urged to Develop an Entrepreneurial Mindset to Enhance Productivity

As part of activities to  commemorate the University's 75th Anniversary, the College of Education, has hosted a seminar for students themed, "Harnessing Employment and Entrepreneurship Prospects for University Graduates: Building Resilience and Embracing Technology."

The objective of the seminar was to equip students and graduates with the knowledge, tactics and practical tools they need to improve their employability skills, build an entrepreneurial mentality, and leverage technology.

Prof. Gordon Adika, Dean of the School of Education and Leadership (SEL), stated during his opening remarks that the event's main goal is to provide university students and graduates with insights, strategies and practical tools to help them improve their productivity, develop an entrepreneurial mindset, and effectively leverage technology in their professional pursuits.

Prof. Adika emphasised that graduates must be flexible and adapt their knowledge and abilities to fulfill their duties, responsibilities and tasks in various work situations as specialists. He proposed intensifying interactions between industry and academia so that industrial skill requirements can drive portions of university instruction. This, he feels, will ultimately result in positive outcomes.

He expressed optimism that the Keynote Speaker, Nana Owusu-Achau, will provide a context for students to build entrepreneurial abilities by applying what they have learned. He believes that by doing so, participants would be encouraged to pursue their own entrepreneurial drive and inventiveness in any areas of the economy they find themselves in.

Nana Owusu-Achau, Founder and CEO of Kings Innovation, the keynote speaker at the seminar, provided an in-depth account of his entrepreneurial path.

In addition, Nana Owusu-Achau announced internship opportunities for students and recent graduates interested in sales and marketing, farm administration, value addition, and other service provision fields. These opportunities will be offered at Agro Kings Ltd and its subsidiaries.

The internship will provide significant training in the agricultural business as well as an opportunity to network and create connections with industry leaders. He added that this is an excellent chance for students and recent graduates to obtain hands-on experience and enhance their abilities in a dynamic way.

He also advised students to pursue their passions and be prepared for the employment market.

The keynote speaker also led a break-out session to help attendees improve their personal growth and career aspirations. Its purpose was to assist them in assessing their key areas of personal growth and development. The session also provided students with vital insights and techniques for further developing their talents and achieving their career goals.

At the end of the session, attendees received certificates of participation.

Also present at the event were: Mr. Joseph Oduro Nkansah, College Secretary; Mrs. Rodarling Neequaye, Assistant Registrar and Adminisrator, SEL; other staff members and students.
