The Department offers an undergraduate programme leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree in French. It also offers various graduate programmes involving coursework and research in French leading to the Master of Arts (M.A), Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in French (Literature, Linguistics, Didactics) and the Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) in French (Literature, Linguistics, Didactics). Besides these, it also offers a Master of Arts (M.A) degree in Translation as well as a Master of Arts (M.A) degree in Conference Interpretation. We also run a summer school programme for the general public at all levels with well-designed modules for the general public as well as for Staff and Students. Certificate of participation is issued at the end of the programme. The Department has a French Club which is made up of all students in the Department and all other students interested in learning and using the French language outside formal lecturer periods as a medium of communication. The club’s main objective is to create a francophone environment that would facilitate the learning of French in the Department and in the University at large.
