PEBO 431 Bioethics and biosafety

This course deals with the basics in philosophical and moral application and use of findings in science and medicine in relation to mankind. The national biosafety framework and guidelines; administration guidelines; movement of regulated materials and commercial release etc. will be treated. Students will be taken through what genetically modified organisms are: the existing status of biosafety programmes and safe use of living modified organisms. It will introduce students to the guidelines on public participation, information sharing and access to justice. The course will enable students to understand the various legislation and legal instruments related to biosafety, ethics of science.
