About
Simon-Peter Kafui Aheto is an Associate Professor of Information Technology and Education at the Department of Distance Education, School of Continuing and Distance Education, College of Education, University of Ghana. Professor Aheto wears many hats in the University. He is the Deputy Director (Programmes) at the Digital Youth Hub and Centre for Digital Youth Development; Coordinator for International Programmes at the College of Education and also, the Head of Course Delivery in the Department of Distance Education. He holds a Doctorate in Information Technology from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Technology from the University of Cape Town, both in South Africa. Dr. Aheto serves on significant committees by UNESCO and the International Association of Universities (IAU). He serves on the Steering Committee responsible for reviewing UNESCO's Internet Universality Indicators Framework and is an Advisory Committee member for the Second Global Survey on Digital Transformation of Higher Education by the IAU. His research interests encompass information technology, educational law, educational technology, learning analytics, and rhizomatic learning, Youth Development. Beyond his academic and committee roles, Dr. Aheto is a consultant and educator in educational and information technology, with a passion for inclusivity in education. He has consulted widely in his field for UNESCO, Commonwealth Secretariat, African Union, Weltwärts Volunteer Program (German Government’s flagship programme) as a Contact Person for Ghana, Women in Law & Development in Africa (WiLDAF), Edify, National Youth Authority of Ghana (NYA), Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Lagos State Government and to mention but few. Professor Aheto is respected in his field and has served on many Boards and Committees in and out of the University.
