
Dr. James Sunney Quaicoe
About
Dr. James Sunney Quaicoe is an Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of Distance Education, University of Ghana and a Researcher at the School of Digital Technologies at Tallinn University in Estonia. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Information Societies degree and a Master of Arts in Humanities (Estonian Studies) from Tallinn University in Estonia. Additionally, he has a master’s degree in ICT in Education and Educational Administration, both obtained from the University of Cape Coast. He also holds a Bachelor of technology education from the University of Education, Winneba. Before joining Tallinn University, Dr. James Sunney Quaicoe had an extensive career with Ghana Education Services. He served as a classroom teacher, headteacher, subject teacher and lecturer at the various levels of Ghana’s educational system. As an Assistant Director of Education in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis Education Office, he oversaw communications, technology integration, and the promotion of innovative teaching practices in schools. At Tallinn University, he is part of the Technology-Enhanced Learning research group. His research interest aligns with Digital Transformation in Education, focusing on school-based digital innovation, teacher digital literacy and capacity development for innovative pedagogical practices. In addition, he has extensive experience in facilitating interdisciplinary focused project-based learning. Dr. James Sunney Quaicoe has been instrumental in fostering collaborations between Tallinn University and African institutions, notably the University of Ghana, under the Leadership of Professor Peeter Normark of Tallinn University’s School of Digital Technologies. Through his work, Dr. James Sunney Quaicoe advocates for equitable technology integration in education, teacher professional development for innovative teaching and learning practices striving to bridge the digital divide and enhance learning outcomes in developing countries and underserved communities.
