Matriculation is the formal enrollment of students at a university. These ceremonies are held at the college level of the University of Ghana. On April 6th, 2024, the College of Education welcomed freshers into its degree and diploma programmes. The new students, who had successfully gained admission to various programmes run by the Department of Distance Education (DDE) at the University of Ghana, were the focus of the matriculation ceremony.
As the nation's premier university and a leader in technological advancement, the ceremony was held online to accommodate students located across the country. The virtual event was facilitated through Microsoft Teams, allowing for remote participation. The matriculation ceremony was attended by the College Secretary, Dean of the School of Continuing and Distance Education, Head of the Distance Education Department, and other distinguished guests.
In his speech, the college secretary highlighted that students would have access to being a part of the University of Ghana community at any time and any place. At the climax of the ceremony, students were directed to take the Matriculation oath and sign the Matriculation Register. The 2024 Matriculation ceremony reinforced UGDE's commitment to providing students with access and efficiency in service delivery. All stakeholders deemed the delivery of a seamless and inclusive experience a success.
The School of Continuing and Distance Education is excited at the prospects that teaching and learning at the premier university would afford our incoming students. We extend a warm welcome to all 2024 Freshers!
