Globally, as the delivery of education evolves to suit the needs of 21st-century students, student-centred learning is identified as an approach that engages students actively and transmits meaningful knowledge. This approach is a pedagogical philosophy where teaching and learning focus on how students understand the concepts to which they are introduced and apply them accurately. The goal is for students to develop skills in the subject area while strengthening the students' agency.
Committed to delivering world-class tertiary education, the University of Ghana's Department of Distance Education believes in student-centred teaching. It recognises lecturers committed to excellence in teaching and learners' development. This time, we spotlighted one of our excellent and widely celebrated lecturers – Dr Emmanuel Tetteh Asare.
