Date: Friday 9th May, 2025 | Time: 6:00 PM – 8:05 PM
Audience: UGDE Diploma Year 1 and Level 100 Students
Attendance recorded: 910+ students

The student forum, themed “As You Prepare for Your Maiden University Exams,” provided an enriching and interactive platform for fresh students to gain essential information and guidance as part of their preparations for their upcoming end-of-semester examinations. The session began with a statement of purpose from Dr. Jonathan Odame, Head of the Student Support Unit. The Head of Department, Prof. Samuel Amponsah, presented a statement enlightening students about the upcoming examinations. He emphasised that, “as a department, our students’ needs are a priority, and we are committed to ensuring that our students succeed.”
Held from 6:00 PM to 8:05 PM, the session focused on empowering first-year students through practical guidance on time management, study techniques, and exam preparation tips. Faculty members and staff led engaging discussions on preparing for exams by maintaining healthy study habits and self-discipline. Issues relating to examination malpractice were addressed and students were entreated to uphold the University’s motto “integri procedamus” by acting with integrity at all times.
The forum featured an interactive Q&A segment, where participants asked questions and shared their concerns freely. Peer experiences were particularly inspiring, with a student who is also a member of the university’s security team encouraging his peers to avoid taking unlawful materials to the examination venue. The president of the UGDE-JCR also emphasised the importance of students preparing well. The recurring message was for students to be consistent with daily study and harness the benefits of group learning. Tips like “start early and take breaks” resonated strongly with students who attended the forum.
Students were also reminded of the importance of self-care, stress management, and seeking help when needed. The meeting concluded with students expressing increased confidence and readiness for their first university exams and a virtual group photograph.
👏 Well done to all who facilitated and participated! Let’s continue supporting each other as we prepare to finish the semester strong.
