Message from the Head of Department – Dance Department
Welcome to the Department of Dance Studies at the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana. It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I invite you to explore our vibrant and dynamic department—a place where tradition meets innovation, and artistic expression thrives alongside academic excellence.
Our department stands as a centre of excellence in dance education, research, and performance. Rooted in the rich cultural heritage of Ghana and Africa, we offer students a unique opportunity to engage with traditional and contemporary dance forms in a scholarly and practical environment. Whether through performance, choreography, theory, or community engagement, our programmes are designed to nurture creativity, critical thinking, and professional development.
We are committed to providing a holistic and inclusive education that prepares our students to become leaders in the dance industry, educators, researchers, and cultural ambassadors. With a dedicated faculty and staff, well-equipped studios, and a supportive academic community, students are encouraged to push boundaries and explore new possibilities in dance.
As Head of Department, I am proud of the achievements of our students and alumni, many of whom have gone on to impact the world through their artistry, scholarship, and advocacy. We welcome individuals who are passionate about dance and committed to making a meaningful contribution to society through the arts.
Thank you for your interest in the Dance Studies Department. We look forward to welcoming you into our creative community.
Warm regards,
