This course introduces students to the basics of journalism and its practice. It is designed to provide students with a general knowledge and understanding of news writing and reporting. Emphasis is on techniques of writing and gathering information for news stories. The course provides students with a conceptual framework for defining the news and understanding how it is covered. The course also includes laboratory work to enable students have handson experience in writing and producing a newspaper.
