CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

The core curriculum is designed to introduce our students to all aspects of Biomedical Engineering and is structured around four major areas: Biological Systems Engineering, Biocomputational, Sensors, Microsystems and Bioinstrumentation and Biomaterials and Regenerative Engineering. These areas are carefully chosen to apply concepts, knowledge, and approaches from virtually all engineering disciplines to solve specific healthcare-related problems.

Biomedical Engineers often need to bring together knowledge and techniques from different engineering fields, as well as information from the life sciences. As a result Biomedical Engineering is usually described as a bridge between engineering and the life sciences. As no bridge can stand without a firm foundation at both ends, the primary guiding principle for this programme is that the curriculum must be firmly rooted both in Engineering as well as Life Science. Additionally, creativity is valued and design experience is incorporated throughout the curriculum.
