Profile

Prof. Edward Ebo Onumah is an Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness at the University of Ghana. He earned his PhD in Agricultural Economics from Georg-August University of Göttingen in Germany. Prof. Onumah possesses strong analytical and conceptual abilities, with expertise in areas such as Production Economics, Risk Management in Production, Business Economics, Microfinance, Farm Business Management, Project Appraisal, Advanced Mathematical and Quantitative Methods, Food Security, Climate Change, Wellbeing Modelling, and Poverty Analysis. He also has significant expertise in Fisheries and Aquaculture research. In addition to his deep analytical skills, Prof. Onumah is proficient in several computer programs, including SPSS, FRONTIER 4.1, STATA, SHAZAM, and OxMetrics. He has served as a consultant for both local and international organizations. Locally, he has collaborated with institutions like the Soil Research Institute, Technoserve Ghana, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, and the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development. On the international front, he has worked with organizations such as the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), WorldFish, the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), USAID, the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex, and the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). Since 2013, Prof. Onumah has been a key resource person for Ghana’s Annual Post-Budget Workshop for Members of Parliament on economic matters. He has also published over 72 papers in international journals and conferences.
